Dr. Kimberly Ostero BSc., ND was born in Fort St. John and raised in the area. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree focusing on training applicable to becoming a naturopathic physician (Biological Sciences, Psychology) at the University of Alberta in 2000. She studied Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Kenmore (Seattle), Washington and completed four years of medical studies at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster BC where she earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine.
As a naturopathic physician, Dr. Ostero has successfully written her NPLEX and CNPBC board examinations to become a licensed naturopathic physician in British Columbia. She attends multiple conferences each year throughout North America so she is able to provide the most current and research-based care for her patients. As of 2019, Dr. Ostero has attended over 100 conferences, workshops and seminars to provide the best care and naturopathic medical knowledge for her patients! Dr. Ostero has advanced her education in pain management (Prolotherapy and Perineural Injection Treatment) to help her patients with chronic and acute pain. Dr. Ostero has and continues to attend multiple conferences on Anti-Aging Medicine, Functional Medicine, Lyme Disease and its associated sequelae, Environmental Medicine (toxin assessment and treatment) and Naturopathic Oncology (Cancer).
Dr. Ostero has studied with Dr. Johnathan Wright MD (one of the pioneers in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)), Dr. Thierry Hertoghe MD, Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt PhD, MD and Dr. Paul Anderson ND (renowned naturopathic physician, author and speaker for training physicians in IV (Intravenous) Nutrient Therapy, and chronic Autoimmune Disease/Oncology). Dr. Ostero takes courses annually through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
Dr. Ostero has a strong passion for assisting her patients in healing, as she previously experienced illness in her early 20’s and understands what it feels like to be unwell. Dr. Ostero was bedridden with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for nearly 3 years as a result of untreated Lyme Disease; this experience instilled in her a personal ambition to continuously learn how to help her patients heal their complex medical issues. Dr. Ostero finds personal joy in helping patients who have visited many other health care practitioners while undergoing multiple treatments without finding success in their health journey. Her greatest achievement is found in helping her patients regain their health and their excitement about life!
Dr. Ostero loves the challenge of helping patients from newborn age to the end of life; this is why she called her clinic “Kontinuum Naturopathic Medicine.” Kontinuum is the Norwegian spelling of Continuum; Dr. Ostero chose this spelling for her clinic name to honour her Norwegian grandfather Nels Ostero who was the person who introduced her to the field of Naturopathic Medicine at a very young age.
